In Olomouc, a spring food and drug store collection is being prepared for those who need it most. The event is organized by Charita Olomouc. She is looking for volunteers to help accept and sort donations. The collection will take place in four stores.
The food collection will take place on Saturday, April 13, from eight to six o’clock. It will be possible to donate at four stores, namely the Globus, Albert Šantovka hypermarkets and Terno supermarket and Lidl in Sladovní Street. “At all collection points, customers will have the opportunity to add extra groceries or drugstore items for people in need during their purchases. Our volunteers will be waiting in the shops in traditional green aprons with the Food Collection logo. Right at the entrance, they will inform customers about the collection and at the same time accept purchased food donations behind the cash registers.” said Sandra Valovičová, head of the Center for Material Assistance.
The Center for Material Assistance Charity Olomouc is preparing for a collection in cooperation with the Food Bank of the Olomouc Region. “Together, every day they save unsaleable food that would otherwise be destined for disposal. From food chains, they mainly collect fresh food for clients, such as bakery products, fruit and vegetables or dairy products,” stated Eva Štefková, spokeswoman for Charity Olomouc.
Very important raw materials that are often in short supply include, for example, pasta, rice, oil, flour or even baby food. The food and drugstores collected will be stored in the Charity Olomouc Center for Material Assistance and will then go to multiple families, single parents with children, as well as the elderly or individuals who have found themselves in a difficult life situation.
Charita Olomouc is also looking for volunteers to help with the collection and sorting of donations. Those interested in helping with the fundraiser can apply via the form.
