Olomouc and Sparta said goodbye to the main part of the FORTUNA:LIGA with a duel from 3 p.m. in the sold-out stands of Androva Stadium. While the opponent was assured of first place after thirty rounds, the home team wanted to enter the group for the Conference League from the highest possible position. Sigma lost 1:4.
There was already a celebration in the sixth minute. The captain of the opponent Krejčí stretched from about twenty-five meters, due to the offside position of one of his teammates, the referee Pechanec prevented his goal joy. Two minutes later, Ryneš tested Stoppen in the home goal with a bomb on the ground.
Hanáci did not get many opportunities in the beginning. The most obvious was probably the action from the twenty-fifth minute, when Chvátal charged for Zifčák’s tap-in, but he missed the empty goal.
Around half an hour into the game, Pokorný stopped Kuchta with a slide, but in the box, and a penalty followed, which Ladislav Krejčí converted with a shot into the lower left corner. It didn’t take long for Sparta to jump to a two-goal gap. After the corner kick, Krejčí jumped the highest and cheered the red part of the audience again.
Five minutes before going to the cabins, there was an exchange of opinions between Kuchta and Matys after the foul. In the end, Sparta combined in the sixteenth, but Haraslín did not succeed at the end of it.
After switching sides, Sigma was the first to threaten. Hvátal found Urič in the center, the ball flew over him and in the subsequent counterattack he appeared in front of the open net after Haraslín’s pass to Kuchta, in a similar situation as his opponent Zifčák did not celebrate either.
Vejlko Birmančevič also found himself face to face with Stoppen in the fifty-third minute. For the third time, the escape was successful, and the Letenské attacker thus celebrated the fourteenth time this season – 0:3. Jan Kuchta confirmed the superiority of the team from the capital six minutes after the hour mark, who at the last moment was overtaken by the outstretched gloves of Sigma’s goalkeeper.
A quarter of an hour before the end, even the home team rejoiced. Pospíšil crossed from the flank to the unguarded Jáchym Šíp, for whom it was the first ever first league goal in his career. In the eighty-eighth minute, Langer brilliantly invited Breite to the center, but nobody responded to him.
A beautiful backdrop of 12,359 spectators ended up with a better result for the visitors. Sigma thus finished the long-term part eighth with a gain of 37 points. Her opponent in the group for participation in the European Conference League will be Hradec Králové in the first round. The match at Androva Stadium is scheduled for May 12 at 3 p.m.
