State attorney Markéta Pánková said at the Prague municipal court that when determining the amount of the sentence, she took into account Řeřich’s youth and his sincere remorse. According to her, the punishment in the legal rate – i.e. from ten to 18 years of imprisonment – would be too severe.
The youth, who recently spent his 19th birthday in a holding cell, waved to acquaintances in the courtroom and made faces at reporters’ cameras.
He told the Senate that he was sorry for his actions and that he would not repeat the criminal activity. He added that he wants to go to school in prison so that he can start a job when he is free.
According to the indictment, Řeřicha stabbed a friend who was a year younger on the night of Sunday, March 13, in the apartment in Přístavní Street, where he was visiting. After the previous verbal and physical fight, he ran to the kitchen, where he took a knife with a 21-centimeter-long and four-centimeter-wide blade from the drawer.
The armed man returned to the room and asked his friend: “So what are you going to do now?” The opponent threw him to the ground, after which Řerich got up and stabbed his friend in the torso. It affected the liver, bile duct and lungs. The victim did not die only thanks to the quick medical intervention in the Motol hospital.
A month earlier, Řericha set out to rob the Harfa shopping center in Prague 8. He brought a short firearm with him. An hour before midnight, he observed a pair of receptionists counting sales at the entrance to the sauna world.
After the last customers had left, he pointed a gun at the women and with the words “load of money” wanted to pick up an envelope with money over the counter. But one of the receptionists was faster and ran off to the back office with the sales. Řeřicha forced the other woman to step down and took a case with roughly 12 thousand crowns from under the counter. He then ran away.
