If successful in the elections, the Prague Pirates want to build a science and technology park where students, entrepreneurs and scientists could meet. It could be created in Strahov, and financing would be provided by money from the guarantee fund, which the city introduced to support entrepreneurs during the pandemic, and from which about 400 million crowns should be returned to the city budget. Party representatives told journalists today. According to the Pirates, Prague lacks a physical place where representatives of the academic community could meet with innovative entrepreneurs. “In the Prague version, the park should offer in particular spaces for interdisciplinary meetings, offices for start-ups, innovative companies and non-profit organizations, incubation, acceleration and mentoring services, a program of education and workshops in the field of business, as well as specialized laboratory and teaching spaces,” stated the current chairman of the IT committee of the Prague council and pirate candidate Jaromír Beránek. The Strahov Stadium, where, among other things, Spartakiads were held under the previous regime, represents a long-term problem for the capital. The pirate proposal is not the first idea of how to use the vast and heritage-protected stands of the stadium. Representatives of TOP 09 in the city council, for example, repeatedly talked about the fact that in the future there could be exhibitions of the XX Memory Museum. century, which the city founded in 2019 and whose task is to commemorate the crimes of totalitarian regimes in the Czech lands.
