In recent months, rescuers have been monitoring the increase in calls to accidents and injuries caused by riding an electric scooter. “On average, we go out to such accidents every other day,” said the spokeswoman for the ZZS of the South Bohemian Region, Zuzana Fajtlová.
Compared to last year’s holidays, there was a slight decrease in the number of accidents in which rescuers intervened. This summer there were 389 of them, seven less than last year.
This summer also brought more trips to allergic reactions. This year, paramedics treated 291 patients with signs of an allergic reaction. But not all were caused by insect bites. “We also encounter other allergies in patients, to food and detergents,” said the spokeswoman. Last year, paramedics went to 228 allergic reactions.
They treated 100 more injuries year-on-year. There were 2,342 injuries, but almost half of them were minor. Over the summer, paramedics intervened in 400 patients with suspected strokes, last year there were 332 cases during the same period of time.
The South Bohemian region is covered by 56 emergency ground crews. The Air Rescue Service helicopter took off in 201 cases over the summer, eight fewer than last year.
