Around 800 motorcyclists, mostly on machines of the American motorcycle brand Harley-Davidson, rode through the center of Prague on the morning of Saturday, September 3. The more than one-hour ride started and ended at the Prague Exhibition Center, but in some places the kilometer-long convoy passed, for example, the main road, with a short stop at Wenceslas Square, and then continued through Karlovo náměstí or Masarykovo nábřeží, among others.

The passage of the convoy continuously stopped traffic on the route, but without major complications.

The event takes place as part of the tenth annual Prague Harley Days, which started on Friday at the Prague Exhibition Center and will last until Sunday. “The sleepy ride is a huge experience every year, it’s a festival of freedom,” said organizer Jaroslav Vavřina before the start of the ride on Saturday. He announced that a full 800 participants signed up for the ride, thus filling the entire permitted quota.

Motorcyclists started lining up in the lower part of the Exhibition Grounds before 9 o’clock. In addition to Harley-Davidoson machines, participants also came on motorcycles of other brands, including several mopeds. The convoy went on a tour at approximately 10:30 a.m., and the line of motorcyclists was so long that the last of them left the Exhibition Grounds more than 20 minutes after the start.

The convoy then set off towards the center of Prague and passed through Veletržní and Bubenská streets, then headed to Hlávkův bridge and continued along the highway to Wenceslas Square. The short stop there included a parachutist jump, as the Czech armed forces also joined the event.

From Wenceslas Square, the convoy then traveled through Sokolská and Žitná streets to Karlovo náměstí and then along the Masaryk embankment and over the Čechův bridge back to the Exhibition Center. He reached there around 12 o’clock.

Motorcyclists were accompanied during the journey by accompanying vehicles and the police, who stopped traffic operatively as they passed along the route. Hundreds of enthusiasts watched the start of the sleepy ride at the Exhibition Center, but the convoy attracted the interest of onlookers during practically the entire route.

The ride started the second day of Prague Harley Days. This year, too, the event is connected with Burgerfest, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year. Until Sunday, the Czech armed forces also joined the event. The army exhibits both current and historical equipment. The Pandur infantry fighting vehicle, the DANA self-propelled howitzer, the Kajman combat vehicle or the RBS-70 anti-aircraft missile system must be seen. Military motorcycles are part of the exhibition, for example Castle Guard machines or historical military motorcycles from abroad.
