Residents of the Karlovy Vary region still take the least amount of money from the entire republic.

Even though the average gross monthly salary of people in the Karlovy Vary region in the second quarter of this year increased by 3.3 percent compared to the same period last year, the lives of the region’s residents are much worse compared to last year. Rising consumer prices are behind this. “They rose by 15.8 percent in the Czech Republic during the monitored period. In reality, the average gross monthly wage in our region fell by up to 10.8 percent in the second quarter of this year,” pointed out Jana Špačková from the Regional Administration of the Czech Statistical Office in Karlovy Vary.
The average gross monthly salary in this period this year was 34,725 crowns. It is the lowest salary in the whole country. People in Prague still receive the most, where the salary was 49,221 crowns. “The Karlovy Vary region continues to be the region with the lowest wage level. Compared to the average gross monthly wage in the Czech Republic, which is 40,086 crowns, the average wage in the Karlovy Vary region was lower by 5,361 crowns,” Špačková specified, stating that the drop in the average real monthly wages were recorded by all regions, the most significant in the Ústí Region, by 12.3 percent.
During the entire first half of this year, the average gross monthly wage in the Karlovy Vary Region increased by up to 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching a value of 33,672 crowns. “Regarding the number of employees in this monitored period, we have 81.7 thousand employees registered in the Karlovy Vary region. Compared to the first half of 2021, the number of employees in our region has decreased by 0.7 percent,” added the analyst.
