SOUTH BOHEMIA – Lovers of classic cars will have their fill on September 9 and 10. The thirteenth year of the South Bohemia Classic will once again rank among the largest domestic veteran events. The traditional motoring enterprise attracts 170 crews from eleven countries of the world to South Bohemia.
The packed starting field promises a great spectacle. Spectators can look forward to legendary and lesser-known brands. Bentley, Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Austin Healey, Chevrolet, De Tomaso, Maserati, Skoda, DeLorean, Ferrari, Cadillac or Alfa Romeo. Just what a piece, a gem! The oldest car on the track should be an MG C-Type made in 1931, which will be brought by Curtis Liposcak from the United States of America.
XIII. South Bohemia Classic 2022 will start on Friday, September 9 at 4:45 p.m. at Přemysl Otakar II Square in České Budějovice. and the route leads through Lišov, Hluboka nad Vltava, Holašovice or Zlata Koruna to the center of Český Krumlov. From there, the crews will visit the main venue of the competition, Hotel Resort Relax in Dolní Vltavica. During Saturday’s stage, the veterans will go to Šumava and enjoy the beautiful roads around the Lipno water reservoir or the views from the top of Kramolín from the Trail through the treetops. More information is continuously published at www.southbohemiaclassic.cz.
The only Czech Formula 1 pilot Tomáš Enge is the driving force
GRAND PRIX Kaplice will, as in previous years, be a part of the track of the international centenary rally of classic and sports vehicles XIII. South Bohemia Classic 2022. The road circuit on the square and in the adjacent streets continues the tradition of chapel circuit races for motorcycles and cars, which took place in the fifties and sixties of the last century and used to be part of the national championship.
“On Saturday, September 10, the veteran crews will complete two laps with the measurement of deviation to one hundredth of a second from the prescribed time. Admission is free, the accompanying program will start on the square from 1 p.m., vintage cars will be on display, a musical group will perform and children can look forward to a bouncy castle. But the main attraction of this year is clearly the driving of the formula car, which will be driven by the only Czech Formula 1 driver Tomáš Enge.” Competition director Pavel Kacerovský from the organizing agency ČK motorsport invites to Kaplice.
The organizers also invite other owners of historic vehicles to the Grand Prix. They can display their vehicles on the square and in the adjacent streets and then take part in exhibition rides along the circuit track – all for free. The only condition is the year of manufacture of the vehicle before 1985, registration at www.grandprixkaplice.cz and arrival at the venue by 12:30 p.m.
Jockey Josef Váňa is at the start again
One of the ambassadors XIII. The South Bohemia Classic is the eight-time winner of the Great Pardubice, the legendary jockey Josef Váňa. Just like last year, viewers will see him behind the wheel of a convertible Škoda Felicia (1959) with starting number 70. In October of this year, this important personality of Czech sports will celebrate a round life anniversary.
ÚAMK Classic Challenge 2022
The ÚAMK Classic Challenge 2022 series of centenary rallies of classic vehicles is announced for participants of the III. Spring Classic, II. Moravian Wallachia Classic and XIII. South Bohemia Classic.
