Prague – Construction of the new kindergarten Mydlinka in Prague 12 began today with the laying of the foundation stone. The building, which should have low energy consumption, is being built by the companies Geosan Group and NEPRO stavební. The first preschoolers should be able to start using the new facility from September 2023, as City Hall spokesman Petr Kocián told ČTK today. According to the contract, Prague 12 will pay about 129 million crowns for the construction of the Mydlinka Kindergarten for 112 children. The new building is this year’s biggest investment event in the twelfth district.
“A new district is being built on the banks of the Vltava in the brownfield site of the former sugar factory, which will offer over 700 apartments for new residents. For this reason, it is essential for us that another kindergarten be established in this location,” said the mayor of the district, Jan Adamec (Pirates).
The new kindergarten will be located on land with an area of 3,380 square meters between K Beránku, Dolnocholupická and Lešetínská streets. According to the earlier statement of the councilor for education Petr Prchal (TOP 09), the kindergarten will be in an area where there is no kindergarten yet.
The two-story building of the kindergarten, designed by Loxia architectural firm, will have four classrooms, a dining room, an indoor playroom and facilities. There will also be several outdoor playgrounds with elements made of natural materials. The building is designed in the so-called passive standard with a green roof. According to Jana Mastíková, chief architect of the LOXIA studio, earth insulation or heat recovery and controlled ventilation using recuperation will be used, among other things.
The plan to build the Mydlinky Kindergarten was approved by the municipal district council in 2019. According to the town hall, the reason for establishing the new kindergarten is the demographic development in the municipal district and housing construction in the Čechov quarter. In the immediate vicinity of the new kindergarten, new Rorýsova and Zlochova streets were created in recent years, where houses with approximately 570 apartments were built. More apartments are now being built.
The new construction of a four-class kindergarten for around 100 million CZK was already described as “overpriced” by the opposition representatives Zdeněk Boublík (Změna pro Prahu 12) and Lenka Vedralová (ANO). At that time, she proposed that the new kindergarten in the Čech district be built as a container house.
In Prague 12, the coalition consists of representatives of the Pirates, ODS, TOP 09 and the Greens, the mayor is Jan Adamec (Pirates). Prague 12, home to 56,617 inhabitants, includes the entire cadastral territories of Cholupice, Kamýk, Komořany, Modřany and Točné.
