“The killers cut up the bodies of their victims, boiled and baked some of them. The remains of bodies and bones were discovered after several months buried in the ground. What led them to this? And who was next?’
With these words, the new podcast series Zloděj životů, prepared by Novinky.cz, invites you to listen.
The first part, called Brutal Murder of Homosexuals, describes the case that started in 2004 when parts of human bodies were found in Strašnice in Prague, accidentally during construction work.
The podcast expands the recently very popular true crime category – that is, a genre whose essence is the reconstruction of a criminal act that really happened. Seznam Správy offered, for example, the Czech Underworld podcast about the crime of the wild nineties and the thin edge of the law in the new millennium.
But the Thieves of Life series is unique in that specific cases are narrated directly by the man who investigated them – former member and captain of the Prague murder party, Jan Štoček.

Seznam Zpravny prepares several podcasts for you. You can find their offer here.
For example, listen to the latest Best Friend podcast series. The case of sexual abuse of a pupil by an elementary school teacher is reopened after thirteen years in the investigative reconstruction of Seznam Zpráv editor-in-chief Jiří Kubík.
By the way: The first episode of the podcast deals with the same case as the first part of the new series Cases of the 1st Department. “Listeners can thus learn how the investigation really went. The real solution took place differently than depicted in the series, which works with artistic license for individual cases,” point out the authors of the podcast – Jakub Štěpánek, David Ryneš, Tomáš Skoupý and Richard Wágner.
The Thieves of Lives podcast will offer a total of six episodes, it will be published every Tuesday on the Novinky.cz server, on Podcasty.cz and in other podcast applications from September 6.
