A dark maritime thriller, women’s stories from a strangely endangered present and the moral dilemma of a Ukrainian woman living in the Czech Republic. This is what the films that represent the Czechia at the 79th Venice Film Festival look like.

Czech film is not experiencing a bad year at all, and its presence at this year’s Venice La Biennale is also very respectable. Although our cinematography has no representative in the main competition of the world’s oldest festival, it is represented by five titles in parallel sections.

The lineup of three feature films is complemented by an interactive virtual installation by Ondřej Moravec Tmání and the premiere of the restored Uch Karel Kachyna from 1970 in the Venice Classics section.
