Kyiv – Russian rockets fell on Kharkiv in the north-east of Ukraine last night as well, the Russians suffered further losses in the south of the country, where according to the Ukrainian army there is a “dynamic” situation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi supported the end of simplified visa issuance for Russians, as proposed by the European Commission on Tuesday. He emphasized that Europe cannot be a place where Russian murderers or people who support them move. Indirectly, in that context, he recalled the explosion of the ammunition warehouse in Vrbětice in 2014.

While in the Kharkiv region, according to observers, the Ukrainians launched a counter-offensive, the city of Kharkiv itself regularly faces shelling from Russian positions. The mayor of the city, Ihor Těrechov, said early this morning on the Telegram social network that around 1:30 a.m. local time (0:30 a.m. CET), Russian missiles damaged the infrastructure in the Němyšljansk district. Several cars and an industrial building were on fire, but there were no reports of casualties or injuries.

The southern operational command of the Ukrainian army announced last night that the situation in the south of Ukraine is “tense and dynamic”. At the same time, according to available information, Kyiv has also been moving into a counter-offensive in the area in recent days. The Ukrainian army destroyed five Russian tanks and 12 howitzers and killed 83 Russian soldiers there on Tuesday, according to the command. In addition, Ukrainian forces reportedly shot down a Russian Su-25 fighter jet and an Orlan-10 drone. However, information of this type cannot be independently verified.

According to analysts contacted by Al Jazeera, the Qatari television station, “a high level of cooperation between the Ukrainian army and the guerrillas” is evident in the south of Ukraine. They allegedly provide Ukrainian forces, among other things, with information about Russian troops and the situation in the occupied territories and destroy Russian supply routes.

According to the Ukrainian General Prosecutor’s Office, Ukrainian authorities have recorded 47,025 possible crimes committed by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion. There are also 32,093 crimes of aggression and war crimes among them.

In his regular night speech, Ukrainian President Zelensky welcomed the European Commission’s current proposal to make it more difficult for Russians to obtain visas to EU countries. According to Zelensky, this “shows the citizens of a terrorist state that they bear a certain moral responsibility for their state’s aggression against Ukraine and Europe”. “It is completely unacceptable that European territory is used for tourism or shopping by those who, at home in Russia, not only support the division and mockery of Europe, but work on it,” the president emphasized.

In addition to the moral aspect, it is also about elementary security, according to him. “Russia repeatedly sends murderers to Europe under the guise of ordinary tourists. They have already seen enough of Salisbury towers, German streets and arms warehouses in the Czech Republic. Europe is not a place where murderers and their supporters should roam,” Zelenskyy said.
