The authority had already asked airlines on Tuesday to halve the number of their flights in France on Friday due to the planned strike. The server of the newspaper Le Monde subsequently reported that the French airline Air France had canceled 55 percent of short-haul flights and ten percent of long-haul flights, i.e. roughly 400 out of 800 planned connections, due to the planned strike.

France’s main air traffic control union (SNCTA) called a strike last week. He pointed to the uncertainty around compensating for the effects of high inflation and around securing a sufficient number of workers in the future. Another strike was announced by the SNCTA union at the end of the month, specifically for the period from September 28 to 30.

The strike will also affect traffic in Prague. “As of September 16, eight flights to France have been canceled so far due to the ATC (French air traffic controllers) strike. We ask passengers to follow the information on specific carriers,” said Prague Airport spokeswoman Klára Divíšková after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A stormy start to the holidays. Strikes and queues await tourists in France
