Thanks to their very good work, the police officers were the first to arrest a woman and a man who stole a 76-year-old woman’s wallet from her backpack at the Muzeum subway station. The day after, the pair robbed an eighty-three-year-old man while riding the escalators at Můstek metro station.
The accomplices in both cases proceeded similarly. A thirty-nine-year-old man approached the victims from behind and unzipped their backpacks over their shoulders. He subsequently stole a wallet with cash and a payment card from it. During the theft, an accomplice who was two years younger covered him with her body.
“Criminals arrested and charged the pair, who were targeting defenseless seniors, over the course of several days. And this from the criminal offenses of theft and forgery and alteration of a means of payment in the form of complicity, for which, in case of conviction, they face a prison sentence of up to eight years. Given that both detainees had already been convicted of similar criminal activity in the past, criminal investigators submitted a proposal to the prosecutor to take them into custody,” said police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová.
The mentioned couple was not the only “catch” that the criminalists can boast of. A pair of foreigners also got stuck in their network, who took advantage of the twenty-nine-year-old woman’s inattention and stole an envelope with 600 euros in cash from her backpack.
Embezzlement: They allegedly made millions. The police are prosecuting the lawyer and paralegal
“Shortly before the theft, the woman exchanged money at a nearby exchange office. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the couple chose her at this very place. Thanks to a very good job, the police tracked down the man and subsequently arrested him. Since they also cooperated with each other during the theft, they also face up to eight years in prison,” added Eva Kropáčová.
