“When my tour manager told me that we should do a concert in Prague, I thought he was crazy. I told him: no one will come. I don’t want to play for the two people I bring with me. He finally talked me into it. And then it was the biggest show of the whole tour.”
This is how Alvaro Soler recalls his previous Czech performances in an interview for Radiožurnál. Although the knowledge of Spanish is not a matter for the majority in the Czech Republic, it is said that the fans at the Prague concerts were able to sing along for entire sets of several hours. The singer himself was always surprised by this.
A multilingual board?
In addition to Spanish, Alvaro Soler is fluent in a number of other languages, such as Japanese, German or Italian. Thanks to this versatility, he is thinking about recording a multilingual record one day.
In some compositions, Alvaro Soler already combines languages slightly. For example, in the hit Manila, which he sang together with Ray Dalton, you can hear English as well as Spanish.

“I didn’t know him personally before, I only heard some of his songs. At first, no one was interested in the song and it didn’t really catch on, but after a while it became a hit, which surprised us both quite a bit. And certainly pleasant,“ admits the singer.
I would like to work with Billie Eilish
Alvaro Soler is said to enjoy composing songs with other musicians. He would not be opposed to collaborations with artists whose genres are significantly different. Like, for example, singer Billie Eilish, the author of melancholic, often even depressing hits.

“I went to her concert in Berlin and I left excited. It was really good, I laugh in front of her. If she wanted to do it, I certainly wouldn’t be against it. It might be interesting to combine, as you say, the sunshine of me and a bit of her rainy, dry and rainy musical character. It would either be a rainbow or an even bigger storm,” laughs the musician.
However, he still cannot imagine some collaborations. For example, it is said that Alvaro Soler would probably not find a common language with the singer Marilyn Manson. “He’s certainly interesting, but he probably wouldn’t enjoy working with me very much either,” smiles the singer.
