The thirty-two-year-old foreigner did not notice the arriving set in time. He was probably concentrating on picking up cigarettes from the dorms. It was late when he spotted the train.

“The train caught him and threw him onto the platform, where after the train stopped, the train staff gave him first aid and called the paramedics,” said police spokesman David Chaloupka.

The man, who was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, survived the horrific-looking collision.

Similarly, a senior citizen who crossed the Rájc-Jestřebí crossing in Blanensko in 2014 can speak of happiness, even though the barriers were down and the warning lights were flashing. At that time, the locomotive only hit him in the shoe and he escaped the collision. That’s when the video went around the world.

Police officers warn against similar attempts to enter the railway yard. In such cases, people often want to cut their way through the tracks. Last year, eight people were hit by a train in South Moravia due to their carelessness.

“The police also focused on unauthorized entry into the railway yard, for example, in Vyškov, within an hour they discovered nine people who, when crossing the railway tracks, risked not only a fine, but above all their lives,” added Chaloupka.
