Four dead in the crash of a small Czech plane in Slovakia. Two people were apparently not supposed to fly

According to information from the SME.sk server, the DA 42 aircraft crashed near the village of Trenčianske Stankovce in the district of Trenčín.

The spokesman for the fire department in Trenčín, Marián Petrík, said that 11 professional firefighters with three pieces of equipment are responding to the scene.

The information about the death of four people on board the Slovak ship was confirmed by the doctor of the Operation Center of the Health Service, Martin Balko. Police spokeswoman Katarína Kuzmová told ČTK that the victims of the accident were Slovaks.

Slovak television Markíza and Joj reported that the plane was registered in the Czech Republic, but according to Markíza, the four-seater Diamond DA-42 type machine was used by the aviation school in Trenčín.

The plane belonged to a local private flight school. “It flew over Trenčín practically every day, but I don’t know who was sitting in it at the time of the crash,” said SME Matuš, who is a student at the aviation-technical secondary vocational school in Trenčín, which is located in close proximity to the aforementioned aviation school.

According to Markíza TV, it was supposed to be a training flight of an instructor with a student, and the other two people on the plane had nothing to look at. “The tragedy should have happened while trying to turn off one of the engines and then start it up. This is usually learned during such flights, but this time it was probably the cause of the plane crash,” the television added.

Footage from the crash site shows the wreckage of the plane in a field outside a built-up area. A rescue helicopter also landed on the spot.
