The so-called 14-day repo rate, for which the bank’s commercial bank deposits excess pension with NB, is at seven percent from the beginning of the year.
The last ballot of the bank councilors did not show such tension. It worked in a situation where inflation was substantially higher than it is today. For the first time since the start of the pandemic in 2020, interest rates are again on the horizon, but only very slightly, by a quarter of a percentage point, according to Jakub Seidler, Chief Economist of the Czech Banking Association (BA).
