The possibility that a large battery factory would be built in the airfield fell after Volkswagen announced in the middle that it would not decide on other locations for the construction of the gigafactory at the moment. The end of the negotiations on the construction of the Volkswagen gigafactory greatly facilitates the operation of the air rescue service with army helicopters, for which you will not have to build a new facility in the Plzeň region and maintain the entire infrastructure, said Deputy Minister of Defense Daniel Blakovec. Minister Jana ernochov (ODS) pointed out that the ministry only agreed to the temporary construction of the gigafactory by transferring it from the army’s property.
Karel, a member of the general board, also noted that if the gigafactory is not in the given location, the army is ready to fly out to other places. Especially thanks to its strategic location, which is able to fulfill new roles in strengthening the defense alliance of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).
The army immediately ruled out that American F-35 aircraft should be placed on the airfield in the future, their purchase was soon approved by the government. As it was repeatedly declared, for their location there will be an air depot in Slavo, which will undergo a complete reconstruction, the ministry said.
Volkswagen has postponed the decision to build a factory for batteries for electric cars at least until 2025. Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Skela (STAN) said after a government meeting in the center that the Czech Republic is one of five potential investors to build a factory for batteries for electric cars in his country. They are from different continents. According to Skela, it is an investment from them in your units of billions of euros.
