Bohemians 1905 football coach Jaroslav Veselý considered the penalty kick from which Sparta scored the winning goal in the match of the 14th round of the Fortuna:League in the 68th minute to be definitely not one hundred percent.
“Klokanů” defender Matěj Hybš pushed forward Jan Kuchta from behind in the penalty area, who immediately fell to the ground. Referee Marek Radina, after some hesitation, ordered a penalty, which was converted by Veljko Birmančevič, to the displeasure of Bohemians.
“What can I say? Kuchťák convinces me how it was a penalty. So let’s whistle these soft penalties here and it will be good,” said coach Veselý.
“When the referee blew the whistle, it was a penalty,” he added.
“I blame it on our players, let’s not be a crybaby,” continued the strategist of the green and white team.
“We had the ball at our feet, Matěj should have kicked it away and thus the situation would not have happened. I would look for it there, that is what we can influence. I cannot influence whether someone whistles a penalty somewhere,” said the forty-six-year-old native of Hradec Králové .
Kuchta had no doubts about the penalty kick. “I was looking at the ball and my head was up. I don’t know who hit me, I was holding my head because my head jerked. It was a clear foul for me,” claimed the Czech representative in an interview with O2 TV.
The station’s experts and former league footballers Antonín Rosa and Jakub Podaný also agreed with him in the studio.
“From my point of view, Hybš’s movement is completely non-tactical. Kuchta is looking at the balloon, and if he were processing it, he would still run out to the car somewhere with it,” described Podaný. “Big mistake Hybš, that decision was not good,” added Rosa.
“I didn’t see it in the replays, but from the outside it looked like a clear penalty. I think he went from behind to Kuchta with too much force,” Sparta coach Brian Priske also said at the press conference.
The team from Leten, who struggled in the penalty kick and did not create any significant opportunities, eventually won 2:0.
