Tough fighting for a hospital in Gaza. Below it is supposed to be the headquarters of Hamas

One of the residents, Muhammad Masrí, who took shelter in the hospital, said that he could already see Israeli soldiers advancing from the west from the upper floors. “They are here. They can be seen, The Times of Israel quoted him as saying.

Gaza resident Abdullah Nasser, who lives near Shifa Hospital, told the AP that Israeli soldiers had penetrated deep into the city from the north and south. “They are facing stiff resistance, but they are making progress,” he admitted.

Israel’s Golani Infantry Brigade continues to engage in heavy fighting with the Hamas Sabra Tal Hawa battalion. Together with the 53rd battalion of the 188th armored brigade, it undertook raids in the southern part of the city.

Hospital on the fly

There is also fighting in the Šatti camp near the hospital, which is surrounded. The Israeli army is convinced that the headquarters of Hamas are under it. He denies it, as do the hospital employees.

“The hospital is surrounded and the buildings in it are targeted, and any moving person in the area is also targeted. The Israeli occupation forces are outside and preventing anyone from moving,” hospital director Muhammad Abu Salmija said, according to The Guardian.

He added that they are minutes away from death and patients, victims and wounded are dying every minute. “We lost a man in the ICU,” he said.

A newborn in the incubator also died because the hospital is without power. The lives of another 39 children in incubators are allegedly at risk. But there is no way to verify the claim.

Surgery also stopped due to lack of electricity, added surgeon Ghasan abu Sitta. He estimates the number of refugees in the courtyard of the hospital at 50,000.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said it was shocked by the news from Šífa Hospital. ICRC regional director Fabrizio Carboni said that the situation cannot remain like this.

Fighting at other hospitals, at one of which Hamas prevented the evacuation

The fighting also affected three other hospitals in the city of Gaza – the Indonesian Bajt Lahija, al-Awda standing next to it, and also Rantsí.

The Israel Defense Forces said they managed to kill Hamas commander Ahmad Siama, who was holding 1,000 Gazans in Rantisi hospital when he prevented the evacuation of 1,000 people from the hospital two days ago.

Israel is trying to allow civilians to leave the fighting zone to the south. The Salah ad-Din road heading south is open on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. In previous days, the corridor was only open for two hours.

Israel also announced that in the camp near the Jabaliya hospital, next to the Rantisi hospital, it will suspend military operations on Saturday between ten in the morning and two in the afternoon so that people can leave for the south.
