“In the Kherson direction, an attempt to land on Velky Potemkin Island was stopped, two boats and 11 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed. A boat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Dnieper River bed and in the area of the village of Sadovoye was destroyed by D-30 howitzers,” said the spokesman of the Russian forces .
Ukrainians have been reporting heavy Russian attacks on Kherson since Sunday morning. The attackers are firing on the city from the temporarily occupied left bank of the Dnieper, the Unian agency reported. Massive explosions are heard in the Dnieper district.
However, the Ukrainians have been operating on the left bank of the Dnieper for many days. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the defense forces are holding positions east of the Kherson region and repelling Russian counterattacks.
As ČTK reported on Sunday, Ukrainian forces managed to push Russian troops three to eight kilometers away from the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region. According to the Ukrainska Pravda server, Natalya Humenjuková, spokesperson for the Southern Command of the Ukrainian Army, said this on TV. According to her, Russian forces can no longer shell the right bank with mortars, although they continue to fire with other weapons. “Preliminary numbers vary from three to eight kilometers depending on the specifics of geography and the landscape nature of the left bank,” said Humenjuková.
