The wings of the Moulin Rouge mill have fallen

--

Local firefighters confirmed to AFP that no one was injured when the wings of the red windmill, after which the cabaret is named, fell. The police are now investigating the cause of the wings falling.

The wings, which went down between two and three o’clock in the night, damaged a large neon sign above the club’s entrance, according to station BFM-TV.

According to the spokesman, the police are also investigating whether someone intentionally damaged the wings in connection with the protests of some local residents due to the hosting of the Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris and its surroundings this year between July 26 and August 11.

The landmark of Paris, which has stood here since 1889 and is a sought-after tourist location, is named after the windmills that still stood on Montmartre in the 19th century.
