One of the smallest smartphones on the market. We test the Doogee Smini

--

Today’s times do not favor compact phones that can be carried in a trouser pocket and at the same time conveniently controlled with the thumb of one hand. However, there is an occasional clear exception. An example is the Doogee Smini, which is a phone that tries to be not only extremely compact, but also really durable at the same time.

First of all, it is necessary to say that the phone is really incredibly small. The height is only 133 mm and the width 60 mm. You can easily hold it even in the palm of your hand, and you can almost hide the entire phone in it. Although the thickness of 13.5 mm is higher, everything goes against the fact that the phone is rubberized and durable. It also meets the IP69K certification, so it will not be destroyed by dust or water.

The ergonomics are absolutely great, the display is elongated and with large frames, which is again at the expense of durability. The layout of the buttons is ideal, you can easily operate the mobile phone with the thumb of one hand. Paradoxically, the highlight of the beauty is the small 4.5″ HD+ display. All the elements on the display are very small. The worst is with the keyboard. At first, your texts will be full of typos. Current Android is simply not adapted to such a small display.

However, we must add in one breath that the front display is not the only one you will find on the mobile phone. In the module with the main cameras there is also a digital display capable of displaying only numbers and a battery pictogram. In the settings, by the way, in the very last item, you will find personalization options. For example, you can only display the battery or the time and date. In addition, the phone will also display temperature and humidity. However, this is data from the Internet, not measured by the mobile phone itself.

Unfortunately, the environment is provided by the older Android 13. However, there are more fundamental shortcomings. The first one is bad optimization, when animations sometimes break. There are also problems with localization, some elements of the setting are in English, Czech and English texts are mixed here and there. At least the manufacturer pays attention to basic support and security patches are valid as of March of this year.

We are starting to test the Doogee Smini in the editorial office. If you are interested in anything about it, do not hesitate to ask us in the discussion below this article.
