The trade unionists left the tripartite in protest

--

“It was not the first time that we asked the Prime Minister to respond to the words of one of the ODS members at the congress… Instead of solving the situation, the Prime Minister caused the trade union delegation to leave the tripartite meeting,” said the chairman of the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions ( ČMKOS) Josef Středula.

“We are not happy about it, but we do not consider the manner, form, content of the message that the Prime Minister used to be the words of the Prime Minister, but of the concerned politician, who could not bear our criticism and the demand that he distance himself from the words of the former minister,” he added.

According to Fiala, the trade union representatives showed by their departure how they envision social dialogue. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) told journalists after the tripartite meeting that he considered the withdrawal of trade unionists from the negotiations childish and incomprehensible.

Trade unionists have left tripartite meetings several times before, for example in 2011 and 2012.

Fiala: Anti-government demonstrations are called instead of meetings

According to the Prime Minister, by leaving before the end of the meeting today, the trade union representatives showed how they envision social dialogue.

“Unions are constantly attacking the government, calling anti-government demonstrations instead of negotiations, which of course they have every right to do, but I wouldn’t expect them to take offense when someone describes things as they are. They left the moment I quoted their own statements to them,” the prime minister said.

Středula said it was good that the unions called the demonstration for May 21.

For reasons incomprehensible to me, the delegation of trade union representatives got up and left the tripartite meeting, leaving only the chairman, Josef Středula. I consider this departure childish

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka

According to Jurečka, the representatives of trade unionists left the meeting after the prime minister stated that he did not understand some of their statements, for example the call of the chairman of the Kovo union (OS KOVO) Roman Ďurč for people to use the European elections to express their protest against the government coalition and vote for social democracy or ANO .

Another departure of trade unionists

“On the basis of this debate, for reasons incomprehensible to me, the delegation of trade union representatives got up and left the tripartite meeting, only the chairman, Josef Středula, remained there. I consider this departure childish,” said Jurečka.

According to him, there was no reason for such a procedure. “It’s a demonstration of their ability for diplomacy, their ability to negotiate,” Jurečka said to the trade unionists.

Another participant in today’s meeting, Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný (KDU-ČSL), also described the reaction of the trade unionists as incomprehensible. He believes that the employee representative will be able to return to the negotiating table, he said.

The departure of the trade unionists from the tripartite also shocked the representatives of the employers. The head of the Union of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic, Petr Rafaj, stated that he considers social dialogue to be key. Therefore, he does not understand why the trade unionists got up and left at the end of the meeting, which had previously taken place in a completely normal working atmosphere.

Drobil: The labor market is not working

At the Congress of Citizen Democrats in Ostrava, Drobil spoke about the dysfunctional labor market and the Labor Code, which he described as Bolshevik. He mentioned the need for adjustments with release of notices, extension of trial periods or restoration of contractual freedom.

He stated that the trade unions “are not a partner, but an enemy, which is very comfortable with the current crazy state, when the master in the workplace and in the company is not the one who provides and gives work”.

Trade unionists have walked out of tripartite meetings several times in the past, complaining, for example, that the cabinet was discussing things with them that it had already approved.

In April 2011, trade unionists walked out of the tripartite talks on reforms because they could not agree with the cabinet on changes to the government’s reform laws.

And in 2012, trade unionists did not participate in negotiations with the government and employers for half a year. In March 2012, the unions walked out after two hours of an emergency tripartite meeting discussing the government’s austerity measures.
