The governor threatens Biden’s wolf and describes shooting her own dog

--

The public was strongly outraged by the passage about how she had shot her dog in the past. She also states in the book that her first act in the White House would be to shoot Commander, the wolf dog belonging to President Joe Biden.

Just a few weeks ago, Noemová was one of the leading favorites for the post of Trump’s co-candidate. It was also assumed that she intends to run for the post of president herself in 2028.

But according to The Guardian, all of that probably dissipated when, in her new book, she devoted an entire chapter to the shooting of her dog, a fourteen-month-old female German wirehaired pointer named Cricket, and an unnamed goat.

In addition, it now turns out that this is not the last time that Noemová deals with shooting pets in the book.

At the end of the book, the governor asks herself the question “What would I do if I were president in 2025 on my first day in office?” Her answer is: “The first thing I would do is make sure Joe Biden’s dog is nowhere on the property. (‘Commander, salute Cricket for me.’)”

Cricket Noema shot because it was allegedly unmanageable, and wrote about the shot goat that it was smelly, aggressive and dangerous to her children.

She is said to have described their killing in the book to show that she was willing to do unpleasant things in both farm life and politics. According to her, her current dog Foster would certainly be welcome in the White House. “He goes to the state capitol with me all the time and loves everyone,” he writes in his book.

Biden’s wolfdog Commander on a walk near the White House

On Sunday, Noemová defended her book on the CBS TV program Face the Nation. The show’s host Margaret Brennan read aloud the apparent threat to Biden’s wolf, asking: “Are you doing this to make yourself look tough? Do you think you still have a chance to be vice president?’

“First, Joe Biden’s dog attacked 24 people from the Secret Service,” Noem said, reminding Commander of the transgressions that keep him out of the White House.

“So how many people will he have to attack and dangerously injure in order to make a decision about what to do with him?” So again Noema implied that the Commander should be put down without saying that she wanted to do it herself. That is said to be up to the president.

(Not) meeting Kim Jong-un

Another controversial passage in the book is the section about Noem’s meeting with Kim Jong-un.

“I remember meeting North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. I’m sure he underestimated me because he had no idea about my experience staring into the eyes of little bullies,” Noem describes the encounter, which, according to South Dakota media, never happened.

In the quote about bullies, Noemová alluded to the fact that she has experience working with children, having worked as a pastor.

She was supposed to meet the North Korean dictator when she was in Congress, between 2011 and 2019. She did not say where she met him.

“I’m Taking Nothing Back”

The book’s publisher, Center Street, has already said it will remove the passage from all future prints, as well as audiobooks and e-editions, based on Noah’s request. However, Noemová denied this in the interview. “I’m not taking anything back,” she responded forcefully at the mere mention of changes in the text.

In the interview, Noemová tried to move away from controversial topics as quickly as possible. She wanted to talk much more about the covid-19 pandemic in South Dakota. However, she did praise her book at one point, saying she was proud of it because it contained “a lot of true stories.”

The day before the interview, Noemová attended a Trump donor event in Florida. “She’s been with me as a supporter, and I’ve been a supporter of hers for a long time,” Trump said of her, adding that she’s someone “he likes.”

That the scandal with the book hurt her was shown by the fact that, unlike the other two favorites for the post of co-candidate, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanikova, Trump did not invite her to the podium. Noemová allegedly left the event prematurely.
