“Two colonels of the State Guard (guard of constitutional officials – editor’s note) were accused of high treason and aiding a terrorist attack,” reported the Ukrainska Pravda website.

“Counterintelligence and SBU investigators thwarted FSB plans to eliminate the President of Ukraine and other representatives of the highest military and political leadership of the state. The plans were to be implemented by an agent network, which was revealed in advance by the SBU with the assistance of the leadership of the Department of State Security. In the network, the activity of which was supervised by the FSB from Moscow, there were two colonels of the State Guard Department, who leaked classified information to the Russian Federation,” the server quoted from the SBU announcement.

According to Ukrainian investigators, FSB agents were tasked with finding people near Zelensky who could take the president hostage and later kill him. In addition to Zelensky, Russian agents planned the liquidation of the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyryl Budanov, and other high-ranking officials.

According to Maljuk, only a minimum number of people knew about the operation to expose Russian agents, and he himself supervised its progress. According to him, the assassinations were supposed to be a “gift” for Putin before his inauguration on Tuesday. For example, according to him, the killing of Budanov was planned even before Easter.
