Police announced that as of 1 p.m., they had recorded 995 bomb threats against specific schools across the country, as well as 110 threats targeting banks and 40 threats targeting electronics stores. The police have not yet informed about the possible discovery of explosives. It is probably the largest case of its kind in the modern history of the country in one day.

The elite NAKA police unit is investigating the matter as a terrorist attack, for which the perpetrator faces up to life in prison. Last week, according to the police, more than 120 schools in the Bratislava Region received similar e-mail threats.

According to Markíza TV, the threatening e-mail is written in Slovak, is religiously motivated and contains death threats. Anonymous mentions Islam, which he exalts above other religions.

The police announced that they are working with other security services and foreign partners in the investigation. Earlier, she also informed that she deployed pyrotechnics, dog handlers with service dogs, law enforcement units and members of her elite unit to the event.

Local governments from various regions said authorities ordered the evacuation of schools. Some of them interrupted or canceled classes.

Slovak media reported that branches of the General Credit Bank, which is one of the largest financial institutions in the country, were also checked due to the bomb threat. Some bank offices remained closed.

The Slovak Ministry of the Interior stated that similar incidents are increasing in the country. The Minister of Education, Tomáš Drucker, wrote on the social network that announcing a bomb in schools is depraved, even if it were from a recession.
