Finally! Phones from Google are officially in the Czech Republic. Including the brand new Pixel 8a – MobilMania.cz

After years of hope and a bit of envious peeking at the surrounding countries, the wait is over – Google’s Pixel smartphone range is officially available on the Czech market as of today. The Poles can also rejoice with us. Google will start selling both the six-month-old Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro flagship models here, as well as the brand new mid-range Pixel 8a introduced today.

For the record, let’s state that Pixel phones were not completely “banned” for the Czech Republic in the past either. Thanks to their relatively high popularity, some domestic e-shops imported them here individually, and after 5G connectivity started working in Pixels with Czech operators, Czech customers felt practically no handicap against other, Google-kissed markets.

Now, however, the official distribution will start working, and with it also the launch of the Czech Google Store with “Made by Google” hardware. There will be a larger selection of devices and original accessories (for example phone covers or Pixel Buds A headphones) and customers will be able to take advantage of various discount events or bundles that Google will prepare for them in its e-shop. In addition to the Google Store, Alza, Datart and operator O2 will be official sellers. Other vendors, if they continue to offer Pixel phones, will have them from other distributions.

Google Pixel 8a

The Google Pixel 8a is the lowest model and at the same time the physically smallest phone from the entire trio of 8-inch Pixels. Its 120Hz OLED display with Full HD+ resolution spans 6.1 inches and is 40% brighter than its predecessor (Pixel 7a) (maximum instantaneous value in the brightest spot up to 2000 nits). The back of the phone is plastic, and everything is held together by a color-coordinated frame made of recycled aluminum. The phone meets the IP67 water resistance standard.

The phone is powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, which makes 5G connectivity available and is also adapted to processing requests made by Google AI artificial intelligence, which all three current Pixels are equipped with. Let’s mention, for example, the Circle to Search function (make a circle on the display around the object you want to find more information about – Samsung phones also have this function), improving the sharpness of photos and erasing an unwanted object from the image (Magic Eraser), as well as a language model with its own the Gemini chatbot, which can help solve all kinds of requests on the phone.

Speaking of the camera, the Pixel 8a packs a dual main camera (64MP primary f1.9 with OIS + 13MP wide) and a 13MP selfie camera. The body of the phone has a battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, which can be charged by cable (max. 18 W) or wirelessly (Qi, max. 7.5 W). Like its more expensive siblings, the Google Pixel 8a will also receive seven years of exemplary software support for both security updates and major system upgrades including regular Feature Drops.
