In the fourth round of Group B of the Champions League, Sevilla failed Arsenal again and lost 0:2 in London. The Andalucian defense was under constant pressure from the opening whistle, but conceded only once in the first half. In the 29th minute, the surprising captain Jorginho presented himself with a fantastic vertical shot between the central defenders, whose incentives were used by his teammates to easily play into an empty goal, finished by Leandro Trossard. The ball was served to him by Bukayo Saka, who after switching sides scored himself and ended his more than a month long wait for a goal. The Londoners thus consolidated their first position, while the guests, on the other hand, fell to the bottom of the table.

On all fronts, the ambitious Arsenal did not have a good season. First, he was eliminated from the EFL Cup, which did not tear the fans’ nerves too much, but at the weekend came a noticeable blow in the form of a loss to Newcastle. However, the Gunners had a decent start to the Champions League after the win in Seville, but Gabriel Jesus, who was not ready this time, was the architect of the triumph in Andalusia. The visitors thus had a simplified path to their first victory in the competition, yet they were clear outsiders in London.

Right at the start, Kai Havertz was completely alone at the back post, but he failed completely with his header. The more active home side got another promising finish in the 24th minute after the work of Gabriel Martinelli, but Ben White’s shot flew a meter over the gallows. After that, a combination of former Chelsea teammates worked, but Jorginho narrowly shot over after a pass from Havertz. In the role of scorer, the Italian was already doing better in the 29th minute, with a wonderful ground pass he found Saka, whose assist was as simple as Trossard’s goal finish.

In the 55th minute, the German representative in the colors of Arsenal was remembered again, but his projectile from the penalty area just narrowly missed the post. Less than 10 minutes later, the Gunners’ wing duo already secured the lead, as Martinelli perfectly timed the ball from the center of the field into the path of Saka, who at full speed handled it brilliantly and fired a shot at the goalkeeper after a jam. Sevilla were toothless going forward and registered a single shot at the very end, which made it easier for the Gunners to finish the game.

Arsenal thus managed the second match between them and came significantly closer to promotion. In the next round, they will welcome Lens on November 29, PSV will visit Sevilla on the same day.
