Czech striker Martin Frk’s premiership won’t last long after his return to Europe: after a few months, he agreed to end his cooperation with Bern in Switzerland. The club announced it on the official website.

“SC Bern thanks Martin Frk and wishes him all the best for the future,” his representatives said in a brief statement.

At the same time, the 30-year-old sniper signed a two-year contract in the capital of Switzerland at the end of April, and the sports department expected a lot from him.

However, the connection between the two sides did not turn out as expected: the Karlovy Vary native gradually lost the favor of coach Jussi Tapola and several times even sat only in the stands. He last started last week against Ajoie.

Frk’s Swiss resume? In eleven games, he scored three times and added four assists. From the points point of view, he was not exactly bad, but he ends up in Bern.

And what else? In the course of his professional career, he had previously only played overseas, and had a peek into the NHL in a total of 124 games. He built a reputation as a dangerous gunner, especially in the farm AHL, where he literally tore opponents’ nets to pieces.

We can assume that the priority for Frko will be to stay abroad. At home, a connection with the mother Energia would be offered, the owner of Pardubice, Petr Dědek, may also inquire about its availability.

But that’s just speculation. The productive forward now, instead of the representative trip to the Karjala Cup – from which he excused himself due to injury – must decide which direction his career will take.
