Race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase admitted that Max Verstappen sometimes gets bored during races.
Red Bull has released another episode of its Talking Bull podcast on its YouTube channel, with three-time world champion Max Verstappen and his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase as guests this time.
Verstappen has been working with Lambias for quite a few years – specifically since the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, when the Dutchman was promoted from the then Scuderia Toro Rosso to Red Bull.
In addition to Verstappen’s then-winning debut in the colors of the Austrian team, the pair also spoke about other topics in the podcast. For example, how Verstappen experiences races in which he has a big lead and everything is under control.
“Sometimes I feel like he’s just getting bored,” Lambiase said.
“Even if we have a lead of 30 seconds, I’m still in my zone and I’m trying to take everything seriously. While Max gradually loses interest and says to himself ‘come on, GP, just calm down’…,” explained the Italian-British engineer, who has been working in Formula 1 since 2005.
In the context of this in the studio, Verstappen admitted that he was rude a few times during the radio communication with his engineer. “It certainly wasn’t the last time,” promised Verstappen, amused.
