I don’t know how else to build it. I was hoping that Bára would bring a point so that Maky wouldn’t play under such pressure that she had to win that tough match with Fernandez. Bára brought the point, but Maky then played with an excellent opponent. And Leylah carried it over to doubles. In addition, Dabrowská is a really good player, self-confident. She served shots, even a little more than normal. That’s tennis, it didn’t work out. Doubles without advantages and having a supertiebreak in your head is simply more difficult.
The first thing is that we would like to play four singles and one doubles again. Because winning four singles against us is much harder. It would be difficult for Fernandez to play the next day after the win over Maky with Bára, Katka or Maruška. Then we have girls who should have a better chance to beat the other one. And then there used to be doubles. But Fernandez decided it by winning a terribly difficult singles match against our best player. And then she got off to a good start in the doubles as well, which was enough. But every year we have the team to succeed. Now the chance was great, especially if we played the final with Italy.

We haven’t all met yet. But I thank all the players, they left everything here. A piece was missing. And I hope they don’t give up and try again next time. I believe that luck can turn to us over time.
The injured Karolína Muchová couldn’t come, but otherwise you had a very strong selection.
Everyone I approached came. I believe he will not lose that motivation. You could see what this defeat means to them, they really wanted to win.
You have been a captain since 2008. Do you still have the energy to continue?
I hope that I still have something to give to the team, of course I will be happy to continue doing it. If I have the confidence, I will try to do my best to get to the final. So far we have difficult groups, sometimes it doesn’t work out for us like last year in Glasgow, how many times in the past we have also been lucky. Now I wish it for new girls to play it.
So another attack on the title right next season?
We’ll see who the lottery gives us… I’m terribly sorry for everyone. First, we could have fought in the final, where it would have been very risky. Secondly, next year is the Olympics and we could have played a straight final group. Now we’ll have to play the first round somewhere, the program will be very busy and I’m sorry that the girls, who shared a lot of points here in Seville, didn’t work out.
