Eighteen-year-old Brazilian striker Vitor Roque scored his first goal in Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Pamplona in the second leg of the 20th round of the Spanish football league. It took him less than a minute on the field to score his first goal in the fourth game in the competition, after replacing Fermín López, who was a year older.

Vitor Roque, who joined Barcelona a month ago from Athletico Paranaense, capitalized on Joao Cancelo’s cross in the 63rd minute and headed it past goalkeeper Aitor Fernández at the front post. Pamplona immediately lost Unai García, who was expelled, and the favorite held on for a narrow victory against a weakened opponent.

Barcelona, whose coach Xavi announced on Saturday that he will leave the team at the end of the season, is fourth in the incomplete table by a point behind Atlético. The Madrid team beat Vallecano 2-1 thanks to a goal from the Dutch striker Memphis Depay in the first set minute, and after the third victory in a row they defended the third place. The Catalan champions and Atlético are eight points behind leaders Girona.

The Liverpool footballers outclassed Chelsea 4:1 and after the 22nd round lead the English league table by five points ahead of Manchester City, who today defeated the penultimate Burnley 3:1. Reigning champions City have played one game less than both Liverpool and Arsenal, who they pushed back by a score to third place.

The table leader went for a fourth straight win in the first half. In the 23rd minute, Diogo Jota opened the scoring after breaking through the Chelsea defenders, and Conor Bradley added the first goal for Liverpool six minutes before the break. The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international headed in a goal for Dominik Szoboszlai in the second half, after which Christopher Nkunku gave the visitors from London a glimmer of hope in the 71st minute.

Eight minutes later, however, Luis Díaz sealed the score after a pass from the underdog of the match, Darwin Núñez, who hit the goal structure four times. The “Reds” thus won the second match after the unexpected announcement of coach Jürgen Klopp that he will retire early at the end of the season.

Manchester City also claimed their fourth victory in a row, and Julián Álvarez, who celebrated his 24th birthday today, deserved it with two goals. The Argentinian world champion scored in the 16th and 22nd minutes, first with a header from close range and then after a signal from Kevin de Bruyne, who, instead of the expected cross into the penalty area, sent Álvarez out with a pass on the ground. Rodri increased the lead of the championship team shortly after the break, and the Belgian representative Ameen Al-Dakhil reduced it to 1:3 in the set-up.

Gunner Erling Haaland, who missed the previous ten games due to injury, played the last 20 minutes of the match in the City jersey.
