There has come a time when everyone has to turn the page, start a new chapter. This is my time to do it, this is my official end. I don’t feel sorry for him, Schooling wrote.
He swam his most famous seduction at the age of 21. He defeated the legendary American swimmer Phelps in Rio in his last individual start in his career and deprived him of his 23rd Olympic gold, which Phelps then won in the 4×100 meter relay.
After his life’s rush, Schooling said that he grew taller than his idol. Eight years later, he caught a joint photo and autograph from a meeting with Phelps.
Now eight-year-old Amerian has become his inspiration and they are in contact through social media. I would love to see him in Singapore. He’s a good guy, Schooling said of Phelps.
Today marks the beginning of a new chapter I will be retiring from competitive swimming.
I am filled with gratitude for every experience that swimming has brought into my life. The victories were exhilarating, the defeats humbling, and together, they have forged a resilience in me that I will carry forward into my next chapter.
Needless to say, I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to my family, coaches, teammates, and my supporters; your encouragement and faith have been a constant source of motivation throughout my journey.
While I am stepping away from competing, swimming will forever be a part of who I am. It has given me a platform to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter the odds.
I am eager to explore new passions, face different challenges, and see where this next phase of life takes me. Thank you to my supporters for standing by me every step of the way. I hope you will join me as I embark on this new adventure.

I am grateful for all the experiences that sailing has given me. The relationship was joyful, embarrassing to the porkers, and together it created a resilience that I will take into the next chapter, Schooling said.
