The Comets’ support at the World Cup will not be in the Czech Republic. I had problems with him, the coach said

Slovak swashbuckler and stormtrooper Kristián Pospíšil (27) will not play for the national team. Coach Craig Ramsay is not counting on him for the World Championships in Prague and Ostrava, even though Pospíšil has had a solid season in the Komety Brno jersey. “Let’s just say I had problems with him at the World Cup. I don’t want to discuss it further,” Ramsay told Slovak journalists at the meeting.

Kristián Pospíšil, bronze medalist from the 2022 Olympics, last played at the world championship this year. In the match against Kazakhstan, he fouled twice in the first period, the Slovaks scored goals from both power plays, and since then he no longer had the confidence of the coaches. He sat on the bench for the rest of the match and did not play in the next matches either.

When Slovak journalists asked about Pospíšil and his national team future at an unofficial meeting in Bratislava, coach Ramsay answered briefly but clearly: “I don’t think we’ll see him here.”

It is not such a surprise for the Slovak hockey player. But he wanted to fight for the national team. He told about it recently in an interview for Sport and iSport.cz. “I want to show the performances in Brno to the people who are in charge of the national team that they are making a big mistake by not calling me up for two years,” said Pospíšil. He collected 35 points (17+18) from 48 games in the regular season in the Comets jersey. He had a record of 6/2 (1+1) in the playoffs.

“I have been to the World Cup twice, each time we advanced to the quarter-finals, which was a great success for Slovakia. I don’t know why any changes were made then. But that’s their job, I’m doing mine. They think that they do theirs one hundred percent and I don’t belong to their concept. I respect that and enjoy life even without representation. I am not in any contact with anyone from the national team,” added Pospíšil.

The Slovak team will have its first official meeting before the championship next week, playing against Switzerland in Humenné. This week in Bratislava there are only unofficial meetings and training sessions.

The star and the rascal. He spoke about Comet or his brother in the NHL. Why isn't it in the rep?
