“Already during the spring season, the coach and I talked about various options, and they finally sat down to discuss everything after the last round of the regular season. Our agreement was formed very quickly. We were interested in the coach continuing his work, Míra Koubek as well, so an agreement was reached and he will lead Viktoria in the upcoming season as well,” the club’s website quoted Adolf Šádek, CEO and chairman of the club’s board.
It has been more or less clear for several weeks that Koubek will stay in Pilsen for another year. He originally returned to Štruncový Sady in the summer as a temporary solution for one year, but the new team that the coach is building as he goes along is having a fantastic season under him. Viktoria will finish third worst in the league, the final of the MOL Cup awaits them (on May 22 with Sparta), they reached the quarterfinals in the Conference League. Thanks to her successful appearance on the European stage, she received a quarter of a billion crowns in bonuses from UEFA.
“We are very satisfied with the work of coach Koubek. We see how he works with the team, he can improve young and new players and build them into the team, which is our philosophy. We look forward to further cooperation,” said Martin Dellenbach, a member of the board of directors of FC Viktoria Plzeň.
“I appreciate the confidence the club has shown in me and the support of the Victorian fans. At the same time, after a year of work, I have a positive feeling about mutual cooperation with the team and with colleagues from the implementation team. It was these findings that played a significant role in my decision. I believe that we will build on the work we started in the current year and try to move it a little further,” said Miroslav Koubek after signing the new contract.
Thanks to Sunday’s win, his team secured third place even before the start of the extension, the highlight of the season for him will be the final of the MOL Cup against Sparta Prague (May 22 in the Doosan Arena).
