Clash of the Giants. Bayern and Real will play in the semi-finals of the Champions League

--

The Munich big club last experienced a season without a single championship win twelve years ago. Since then, he has reigned supreme in the league, winning the cup five times and adding two Champions League triumphs.

However, the current situation appears to be critical. The brilliant drive of Leverkusen with the Czech trio (Patrik Schick, Matěj Kovář, Adam Hložek) robbed Bayern of the Bundesliga title, in the cup the giant crashed at the third division Saarbrücken. The last iron in the fire is the most difficult competition full of elite teams in Europe.

In the Champions League, Bayern reached the top four, three games away from the coveted cup. In his so far journey through the millionaire competition, he was able to surpass Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Manchester United in the group. In the round of 16, after the results 0:1 and 3:0, Lazio eliminated Rome, then went over Arsenal (2:2, 1:0). Bayern’s star forward Harry Kane, who has scored forty-two goals in the current season, is still keeping his chances for the premier trophy of his career alive.

The opponent from Madrid is experiencing a much more comfortable period. Five rounds before the end of the league, they have an eleven-point advantage over second-placed Barcelona. Unless there is a total collapse, the domestic crown will travel to the Santiago Bernabéu after a one-year hiatus.

Real started their adventure in the Champions League in a dominant fashion, without losing a single point, they dominated the group with Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin. In the round of 16 battles, he narrowly got over Leipzig (1:0, 1:1) and after two draws (3:3, 1:1) and a successfully managed penalty shootout, he eliminated the defending champions from Manchester City in the next stage of the competition.

With fourteen triumphs, the White Ballet is the most successful team in the history of the Champions League and its predecessor, the European Champions Cup. His current players Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, Luka Modrić and Nacho Fernández have won the club’s most prestigious competition five times. If Real could win again this time, with six titles they would catch up with the current record holder Pac Gent, the former great Real winger who played in the 1950s and 1960s.

The opening match between two of the three historically most successful clubs in the competition will start on Tuesday in Munich at 21:00, the return match in Spain will be on the program for next Wednesday. The Madrid team is aiming for a fifteenth triumph in the most prestigious club competition. Bayern has won the Champions League six times, with only AC Milan ahead of Real Madrid.

The advancing team will play the better of the Dortmund–Paris St. Germaine.
