Badstuber will not seek another comeback, he decided to end his career

Holger Badstuber made his debut in the first team of Bayern Munich thirteen years ago, and today he officially said goodbye to an active career. This was marked by serious injuries and now the former German defender has definitively given up his fight with health, he intends to stay with football anyway…

The 33-year-old Badstuber was one of the comets of the 2009/2010 Bundesliga season and quickly established himself in Bayern’s starting line-up, from which, however, he was repeatedly sidelined by serious injuries. During his career, he tore knee ligaments several times, struggled with his ankle, and suffered from serious problems with his thigh muscle. He finally left Bavaria on loan to Schalke in January 2017, followed by stints in Stuttgart and Switzerland’s Luzern, and has been without an employer since mid-December.

“Obviously I wish I had less injuries. But I’m very happy with what I’ve achieved. I’m grateful for everything,” Badstuber said goodbye to the fans.

Badstuber managed to play thirty matches for the German national team and played at the 2010 World Championship and the 2012 European Championship. With Bayern, he won six championship titles and four cups, and in 2013 he lifted the big-eared trophy intended for the champions of the Champions League.

“I will stay with football, it is my passion. I will follow in my father’s footsteps and start coaching. I hope that I will stay with football for a long time, even if it will be in a slightly different role.” outlined other plans.
