“An eight-figure sum at an auction in the sports market was something we could only dream of ten years ago. This is an extraordinary achievement by our great team of sports experts. Of course, we couldn’t have achieved this without our consignor Anthony Giordano, who put his trust in Heritage to bring this amazing card to market,” added Ivy.
Anthony Giordano bought the card in 1991 for 50 thousand dollars (1.2 million crowns). According to the auction house’s press release, he kept it safely hidden away for three decades and then brought it to Heritage Auctions, where he valued it many times over.
