Aqara introduced new T1 series products. What are they better at?

--
  • Aqara really stepped into the smart home this year and introduced a bunch of products
  • The latest products from the T1 series are equipped with Zigbee 3.0 technology
  • Key benefits include improved security and support for OTA updates

Aqara is best known for its smart home gadgets. This year, we gave this company quite a bit of attention on our website, we reviewed, for example, a smart video doorbell, a relay, an RGB strip or an FP2 sensor. In October, the Chinese company revealed several other novelties, specifically improved gadgets labeled T1. In this article, we will talk about what the gadgets can do and how they differ from their older versions.

How do T1 products differ from older ones?

The products of the T1 series do not differ in design from the older ones, the changes mainly take place under the hood. We have here standard Zigbee 3.0which offers improved security compared to version 1.2 and above all, it supports OTA (Over-the-air) updates. The manufacturer (now we are not talking only about Aqara) can therefore keep their products alive for a longer period of time, and if they show an error, they can remotely update them and solve the problem or continue to improve them with new functions.

What platforms are Aqara T1 products compatible with?

You don’t necessarily need to operate Aqara products only with the default application, they also work with Apple, Amazon’s Alexa, Samsung’s SmartThings or IFTTT.

  • Apple Home
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Google Home
  • Matter
  • SmartThings
  • Yandex Smart Home
  • IFTTT

Aqara Water Leak Sensor T1

Aqara Water Leak Sensor T1 is a water leak detector, as the name itself tells us. It fits almost anywhere, whether you want to wear it or not for a dishwasher, washing machine or just to have it in the hallway. Why? If your neighbor heats your apartment and you are not at home, you can notice this inconvenience much earlier, inform your neighbor and thus prevent more damage. The only condition is that they must water level to reach 0.5 mm, otherwise the sensor will not recognize it. In the Aqara application, you can set up various scenarios, for example, if the sensor detects a water leak, it can turn off these appliances (even the stupid ones, if you have them plugged into a smart socket). Of course, it has certification IP67so you don’t have to worry that it will stop working when it comes into contact with water.
