Shazam has finally removed this annoying limitation. The repair has been waiting for years –

  • Shazam has finally fixed the issue where you had to disconnect your headphones from your phone
  • With the arrival of version 17.3, it can recognize music from the surroundings or other applications even with connected headphones
  • The update is available for free on both iOS and Android

Surely all of us have come across the fact that somewhere interesting music was playing, but you had no idea who was playing that piece. Thanks to the Shazam application, you don’t have to worry about it, because it only takes a short listen to the house to tell you which song it is by which artist. The app is so popular that it was even bought by Apple itself, but thankfully they made it available for Android devices as well. As great as music detection and recognition is, there’s one thing Shazam has struggled with for a long time.

Identify music even with connected headphones

One of the strengths of Shazam is the detection of music coming from another application. There was one catch though – the feature didn’t work if you had headphones connected via Bluetooth. Fortunately, the latest version of the application, labeled v17.3, removes this limitation. The feature works when connecting wired or wireless headphones, and they do not have to be accessories made by Apple, so headphones from other manufacturers are also supported. To use the feature, open the Shazam app, make sure your headphones are connected, and then you can start recognizing music around you or on apps like TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube.

What is this tune? Shazam has a new feature for advanced users

Apple acquired Shazam in 2018 and since then has gradually brought the application closer to Apple Music, offering trial versions of the streaming service through the application or the ability to synchronize Shazam directly with Apple Music. You can download Shazam for free from the App Store or Google Play. Access to it is possible through Control Center on iPhone and iPad, through Siri commands or on Mac, and also through widgets.
