1) A US court jury today found Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the failed FTX cryptocurrency exchange, guilty of a billion-dollar embezzlement case that prosecutors say was one of the largest frauds in United States history. The 31-year-old businessman now faces decades behind bars, the AP agency reported.

2) In the fourth financial quarter, the American technology company Apple increased net profit by less than 11 percent year-on-year to almost 22.97 billion dollars (approximately 529 billion CZK). This follows from today’s report on economic results. Earnings per share beat analysts’ estimates. However, the company’s sales fell slightly, for the fourth quarter in a row. The business has been struggling with low demand for Macs and a volatile smartphone market in China. Shares in the aftermarket reacted by falling 3.5 percent.

3) The inflation rate in Turkey fell to 61.4 percent in October from September’s 61.5 percent. It was the first drop in four months, Turkey’s statistics office announced today. Analysts expected inflation to continue rising and exceed 62 percent. Turkey, which according to the Association of Travel Agencies of the Czech Republic is one of the favorite destinations of Czech tourists in the summer, has the highest inflation in Europe.

4) Shares on the European markets continued to grow slightly this morning and continued the favorable development of the previous days. Since Monday, their key index has already added more than three percent, the biggest weekly gain since March. According to analysts, indications that major central banks in Western countries are ending monetary policy tightening are contributing to the growth, which generally bodes well for stocks.

5) Russian mining firm Norilsk Nickel announced a nine-month dividend and approved a stock split. He wants to increase their liquidity on the market. The world’s largest producer of palladium and a major producer of high-grade nickel said this in a statement today. Shares of the company on the Moscow stock exchange strengthened to a more than 17-month high after the announcement.
