Investigation of the Swedish holding company Embracer Group may fall on the studio Free Radicalwhich was revived just two years ago to revive the classic first-person shooter TimeSplitters. According to VGC server sources, it is threatened with closure.

The difficult situation is confirmed by some employees of Free Radical, who in the last 24 hours published news that they they are looking for a new job. It is supposed to be at least 15 people from Free Radical. Among them are lead game designer, lead artist, lead technical artist, game designer and IT manager.

Under UK employment law, Embracer Group’s Plaion must consult with employees before making any redundancies at least 30 days in advance. During this period, they must also explore ways to avoid it.

As part of a restructuring program, Embracer closed its studios Volition (Saints Row) and Campfire Cabal. The second-named company was created only a year ago and veterans who were in charge of Expeditions: Rome, Hitman and Warface worked in it. As for Saints Row, the series is meant to live on. Plus, the sale of some studios is to be considered, including Gearbox (the authors of Borderlands).

Lots of video game companies are laying off this year. Xbox Game Studios, Epic Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ubisoft, CD Projekt, Unity, Riot Games, Blizzard, Crystal Dynamics, BioWare, Striking Distance, Team17, Frontier Developments and Telltale Games, among others.
