1) The price of the bitcoin cryptocurrency is increasing and this morning it approached the $37,000 mark (CZK 851,365). According to analysts, the information that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is considering 12 requests for authorization of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by next Friday is likely to have an impact.
2) Shares of Dutch company Adyen are soaring more than 37 percent to around €919 on the back of better-than-expected 3Q sales and a new medium-term plan that analysts say sounds more realistic and credible.
3) The American company Apple is in danger of having to return 13 billion euros (CZK 320 billion) to Ireland, as requested by the European Commission (EC) in 2016. According to her, Apple drew unauthorized tax benefits. The company later appealed and was upheld by the EU’s second highest court. However, the Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU wrote today that the lower court made several mistakes, reports Reuters.
4) The new forecast of the Czech Banking Association (ČBA) predicts a slight decline in the domestic economy by 0.4 percent this year. For next year, it has reassessed growth to weaker values and expects it to be 1.8 percent. According to her, inflation will reach almost 11 percent this year, and will fall to 2.5 percent next year. This follows from the macroeconomic forecast that CBA presented to journalists today.
5) The ČEZ energy group earned 29.8 billion crowns in the three quarters of this year, so the company’s net profit fell by 43 percent year-on-year. The main cause of the decline is the windfall tax introduced this year, which increased costs by CZK 21 billion. On the other hand, due to the high market prices of commodities, the group’s operating profit (EBITDA) rose by six percent to CZK 95 billion. This follows from the data that the company published today.
