The battle for millions of crowns begins in Prague. Who will become the ruler of domestic Counter-Strike?

The champion of the Czech Republic 2023 will be decided definitively in two weeks at the exhibition center in Brno – specifically on the weekend from November 24 to 26. The winning team will receive a fabulous reward of one million crowns, while fans can look forward to a musical show and lots of games. But before that, the teams have to fight their way through the group stage.

There is a long road to the title of champion of the Czech Republic, which began with the first tournament at the turn of March and April. Two more races followed in May and September. Teams received points for their placement in the rankings, which resulted in the best eight competing for the champion’s cup and millions in prize money.

The winner of all three tournaments this year from the MČR circuit was always the Dynamo Eclot team from Pardubice. It is precisely this that makes him one of the biggest adepts at winning, and his players have double motivation. They would take a million crowns for the victory, and at the same time they would complete the Tipsport Grand Slam, which is intended for the winners of five out of eight consecutive tournaments. In total, they can take away three million crowns from Brno.

But now all the merits go aside. The success of the season will be evaluated by winning the domestic title. The players of the Sinners team from Liberec know this very well.

Will the king leave his throne?

They have been sitting on the championship throne for three years and they do not want to give up their position easily. But they are still waiting for this year’s big victory. Nevertheless, they do not lose their vigor and desire for triumph. “We want to win the championship. We still have the same ambitions and I believe we can do it,” said Simon Horák to CNN Prima News reporters after the last Prague tournament.

Sniper Tomáš Šťastný alias oskar may have a special motivation. The best Czech player of Counter-Strike recently lost the position of the most successful domestic player in terms of financial winnings in tournaments. During his entire career, he earned 395 thousand dollars (roughly 9.1 million crowns). He was surpassed by Dota 2 computer strategy player Jonáš Volek, who won $397,000 (roughly CZK 9.15 million). But in case of victory, Šťastný will return to the first place.

The most important Czech Counter-Strike tournament starts on Thursday and Friday with the group stage. At the weekend, it will be decided definitively which four teams will visit Brno in mid-November and fight for the title of champion.

Group A has two clear favourites. The already mentioned Dynamo Eclot and then the Sampi team, whose owner is the Czech footballer Jakub Jankto. This pair will be challenged by the Enterprise teams and the Sinners academy.

In the second group B, there is the main section Sinners, which is the number one favorite, which is confirmed by the odds and punters. The trio of teams eEriness, Entropiq and Unity will compete for the second place guaranteeing advancement to Brno. The last-named team is a slight favorite in this respect, as the majority of its squad consists of players who won silver medals in eSuba jerseys at last year’s MCR.

Fans can also head to the peak of the season and cheer on their favorite team. The gates of the Vodafone PLAYzone Arena in Prague’s Chodov will open as early as Thursday.

Tickets for the Tipsport MČR CS 2023 final itself, which takes place from November 24 to 26 at the Brno Exhibition Center, are currently on sale. In addition to Counter-Strike, players can also enjoy a music show with the musician Marp and the band Troublegang, and they will be joined by the Brno rapper Maniak.
