A scary-looking accident stopped traffic at the railroad crossing in Pelhřimov on Thursday morning. There, a train hit a lorry crossing the tracks, turning the lorry on its side. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
It was shortly after eight in the morning when an accident happened in Pelhřimov on Thursday. A truck was crossing the tracks there just as a passenger train was approaching the crossing. He didn’t have time to brake.
The locomotive hit the truck with full force. As a result, the landscape was damaged and the truck overturned on its side. The train itself remained for the most part on the tracks, but the front part of the locomotive remained suspended on the trailer.
IZS units immediately arrived at the scene. Firefighters managed to get the truck driver out, while everyone left the train, in which only nine people were traveling at the time. Despite the horrific looking accident, no one was hurt.
The collision is now being investigated by the police, who are investigating how it happened. “The breathalyzer of the truck driver and the train driver yielded a negative result,” said Dana Čírtková, spokeswoman for the Vysočina region police.
