Prague – School unions will today distribute instructions to individual organizations on the procedure for preparing an all-day warning strike and templates for relevant documents. The Association of Primary School Principals will say today how it will deal with the strike planned for November 27. The association of gymnasium principals has already decided that it does not support the strike, but it will not prevent anyone from joining the protest.
Trade unionists want more money for education. They have already criticized that next year the volume of money for the wages of non-teaching staff in the education sector – i.e. cooks, housekeepers and school economists, school psychologists or IT workers – is to decrease by two percent. Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek (STAN) wants to prevent a strike, on Thursday he agreed on another meeting with the trade unionists for next week.
The chairman of the school unions, František Dobšík, insists that school employees should be seen as a whole, not divided into teaching and non-teaching staff. “It is not excluded that there will be a compromise. As my predecessor said, the best and most successful strike is the one that does not have to take place,” he said after Thursday’s meeting with Bek.
