The story of this “13-year-old architect” is unbelievable: Luke Thill is a teenager who built his own house. He turned his dream into a reality while his peers spent time at home playing computer games. He built his own little house in the garden. You wouldn’t believe what he created.
In the charming town of Dubuque, Iowa, where most thirteen-year-olds are engrossed in video games and school activities, Luke Thill decided to fulfill his dream and live a little differently. He not only dreamed of his own space, but also built it. And all thanks to your own creativity and a budget of $1,500! His “home” was created right in his parents’ garden. Luke’s surroundings were in complete awe of what the boy had created. Well, tell me, isn’t it great:

A dream he had since he was 11 years old
At age 11, Luke came across the world of tiny houses through YouTube and was hooked. At the age of 13, while his peers were struggling with high school, Luke was drawing up plans for his dream home.
With a lot of support from his parents, he decided to raise funds for his project by mowing lawns, helping neighbors and collecting donations.
Functional housing – the result of bartering
Building a house with an area of 27 square meters was no easy feat. Luke’s father helped with the construction, while his mother contributed her experience in interior design. Luke decided to use recycled materials and traded them his services: cleaning garages in exchange for electrical work and mowing lawns for help with other aspects of construction.
Thanks to his persistence, Luke gradually turned discarded objects into functional elements of his house.

Today, the small house, which measures only 1.7 meters wide and 3 meters long, boasts a kitchen with a functional stove, a cozy living room with a folding dining table and a loft space used as a bedroom. Despite its compact dimensions, the house is a testament to Luke’s creativity and practicality.
However, Luke’s passion did not end there
Inspired by the success of his first venture, he teamed up with his twin brother, Cole, to build a teardrop RV that they use on their travels. The result of their ingenuity and hard work was a functional 11 square meter mini camper that has allowed them to go on more than 50 camping adventures across the country.
