According to companies, bad planning and little interest in Africa are responsible for Fiala’s impact in Nigeria. What do they warn against for the future?

Prime Minister Petr Fiala visited Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana and the Ivory Coast during his week-long mission in Africa. Originally, a visit to Angola was planned, but then Nigeria replaced it, which eventually canceled the visit.

CThe aim of Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s (ODS) African tour was clear: to improve relations with the countries visited and help domestic business in them. However, his delegation did not look at the country with the strongest economy – Nigeria. As representatives of the companies participating in the mission told HN, the Nigerian refusal of the planned visit was due to an organizational failure on the part of the Czech side. At the same time, according to experts, the Czech Republic paid the price for its earlier approach to Africa. In addition, business representatives point out that in the future the government should be careful about its outputs to international events, otherwise it may harm Czech companies.

Fiala visited a total of four countries as part of a week-long trip to sub-Saharan Africa. Originally, there were supposed to be five of them. On Wednesday, a visit to Nigeria was on the agenda. However, at the last moment before the planned arrival, the country refused to accept the Czech delegation. She stated that she could not provide the desired program as the reason. This gave rise to the opinion among experts that the main reason is rather a reaction to Czech support for Israel in the current conflict with Palestine.
